About Us

NYTortReformNow.org is a broad based coalition of hardworking New York business leaders, professionals, local government leaders and consumers who are committed to bringing meaningful reform to New York State's tort laws.

New York's "tort tax" has contributed to the enormously high property tax burden for homeowners and businesses in New York, reduced access to health care, and driven up costs for homebuilders and homeowners. The failure of policymakers to meaningfully address tort reform has hindered efforts to revitalize New York's economy. Texas adopted major tort reform in 2003 — in 2007, job growth in Texas was 300% the rate of job growth in New York and business leaders have identified tort reform as a significant contributing factor leading to the success of Texas.
